Great product and shipment was processed quickly. The unit will drastically cool down the room. Im usuing in 300sq ft optical lab and with equipment running this unit keeps room very cool.
This unit is really saving my bacon this summer. My central A/C is going to need to be replaced to the tune of $15,000. That's just not in the cards, but this portable unit cools down my main living space to a reasonable level that I'll be able to make that big purchase more at my leisure. The dehumidifier setting also works really well. My only note and the reason for one less star is it's kind of loud. Overall though, I'm very pleased.
I recently picked up the Whynter ARC-14S, and overall, it’s been a fantastic addition to my space.
✅ Installation:
Setup was straightforward and much easier than dealing with a bulky window unit. The dual hose design takes a few extra minutes to connect, but the included window kit made sealing everything simple. The instructions were clear, and I was up and running in under 30 minutes.
✅ Cooling Performance:
This unit packs a punch with its 14,000 BTU rating. It cools a large room quickly—Whynter says it’s rated for up to 500 square feet, and in my experience, it handles that size without struggling.
✅ Noise Level:
One of the biggest surprises was how quiet it is compared to most window A/C units. Even on higher fan speeds, the noise is more of a low hum rather than an irritating roar. At night, the noise blends into the background and doesn’t disturb sleep.
✅ 3-in-1 Functionality:
I love that this isn’t just an air conditioner. You also get:
• Dehumidifier Mode: Perfect for damp days—it pulls a noticeable amount of moisture out of the air.
• Fan Mode: Great when you just need air circulation without cooling.
These options make it a versatile appliance that works year-round.
✅ Design:
The overall look is modern and neutral, so it doesn’t clash with décor. The digital display is easy to read, and the remote is convenient.
✅ Efficiency:
Because it’s a dual-hose system, it’s more efficient than single-hose models—less negative pressure means better cooling and less hot air sneaking in.
💡 Considerations:
• It’s still a large unit, so you’ll need adequate floor space.
• Like any portable AC, the exhaust hoses will warm up the room if they’re not well insulated, but that’s easy to fix with hose wraps.
• The water tank does need occasional draining in humid climates.
This is our 2nd Whynter - the other is currently 7 yrs old and going strong, moved it upstairs. Got the new one and it's much quieter and cools well.
