Have had this machine for a day and already LOVE it! Price is incredible but it’s extremely well built. Impressed with how cold the ice cream vessel gets as this is imperative for proper ice cream. I can tell this is a quality unit.
After 2 months of use, every weekend, I can now write my honest review of the Whynter ICM-200LS. I wanted to make sure I gave it a fair shake. I am so glad I upgraded from the Kitchenaid ice cream maker. That thing was more of a space hog and headache than it was an ice cream maker. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the Whynter ICM-200LS is not that big. It has earned a permanent spot on my countertop. It is easy to operate and easy to clean. I am glad it came with a stainless steel bowl; I prefer that over aluminum. I like to pre chill the machine for at least 10 minutes (or longer) no matter the type of base I use. It takes about an hour (add 20 minutes more if your base is scalding) to make ice cream if starting from a warm, cooked base, and it takes about 20-25 minutes if using a raw, room temperature or slightly cooler base. If you're not ready to eat it when it is done, you can remove the paddle, set it to cooling, and it will continue to freeze until you're ready. It can make firm ice cream really well, not just soft serve (or soft serve soup as the Kitchenaid did). I wish I hadn't spent so many years (over 10 years) with the Kitchenaid ice cream bowl. Now that I have gone Whynter I will never look back.

I am very happy with this ice cream maker! It is strong, only takes an hour and comes with a really nice simple recipe book. Before I had a cheap one from Amazon that took hours, was smaller and broke with no replacement parts available within 6 months. This Whynter Ice Cream maker has made the best ice cream ever from Mango to Strawberry to Chocolate Sorbet. The ice cream is DELICIOUS and EASY!!!
The only thing about it that is better than my two previous machines for freezing ice cream is that I don't have to freeze the bowl first. It doesn't seem to get the same recipe quite as frozen as the frozen-bowl models did, and it takes twice as long. One good thing is that it doesn't start letting your ice cream melt after the bowls have started losing their coldness. It's God-awfully heavy, too. I'm an old lady living alone, and I have to be careful when moving the unit. The many tight crevices on the paddle and lid are a pain to clean and dry. On my first attempt using it, I did what the manual said and "paused" the unit so I could take off the lid and press the ice cream down that had gotten stuck at the top of the paddle; it wasn't getting much freezing there. When I tried to restart the machine, it didn't restart (for longer than the 10 minutes mentioned in the user guide). When I used it the next time, I didn't pause it. Toward the end of the 60-minute cycle, it started making a jerking motion and a thumping sound. I don't know if it is supposed to do that, but I just let it go. So, the ice cream crawls up the paddle and doesn't freeze as well as the rest, and I quit trying to stir it down because it won't finish the freezing after that.
Great ice cream maker.Very easy to use and ice cream comes out perfect every time. So much fun experimenting with different flavours.Well made machine. Sturdy but not too heavy. Whynter brand is excellent. Will definitely recommend to others and will make purchases in the future.

This ice cream maker is just what I have been wanting for years. It is all inclusive with no pre or post freezing, ready to enjoy! I highly recommend the product, I was tired of buying ice cream in the store or through a drive thru. I can now control what is in my ice cream with no guilt of eating unhealthy additives.
